Inductive Sensors for Welding

Sensors that last longer against weld-cell hostilities.

Welding Sensors Non-contact inductive proximity sensors used to detect clamp status and part presence must operate reliably and survive physically in harsh robotic and manual welding environments.  Balluff offers an extensive selection of weld-field immune, anti-slag coated inductive proximity sensors for rigorous MIG and resistance welding applications.  Balluff’s program of specialized welding sensors and protective accessories counteracts the hostile effects of hot weld slag, strong electromagnetic fields, and mechanical impact to help keep production lines running at peak efficiency.

Special Features for Welding Inductive Sensors

Weld Field Immune (WFI) only
Balluff Weld Field Immune (non-Factor 1) sensors are able to withstand the influence of strong magnetic fields.

Factor 1 (Weld Field Immune)
These “Factor 1” sensors do not require de-rating (0.6, 0.5, etc.) of their sensing distance when the target is a non-ferrous material, such as aluminum or brass. In addition, all Factor 1 sensors are always weld field immune. More

Slag Resistant Housing (PTFE) The high-temperature PTFE coating helps prevent hot weld slag from sticking to the metal sensor body. In areas where weld slag build up is inevitable, the slick PTFE coating makes it easier to quickly remove the weld slag without damage to the sensor.

SlagMaster™ Face
SlagMaster™ is a proprietary ceramic-based protective coating that is factory-applied over the sensing face. By resisting the effects of continuous hot weld spatter, SlagMaster prolongs sensor life by resisting the melting and erosion of the sensor face. It also enhances sensor reliability by repelling weld berries that could become embedded into the sensor face and cause the sensor to lock on. More

SteelFace®
SteelFace sensors are machined from a solid block of stainless steel to resist impact, abrasion, and particulate erosion. The 2X and 3X extended sensing ranges of these sensors allow farther mounting to prevent impact damage. More

Strokemaster™ (WFI Cylinder Position Sensors)
StrokeMaster™ end-of-stroke sensors accommodate pressures up to 3,000 PSI with weld field immunity for hydraulic welding clamps. Unlike some competitive types, the electronics head is rotatable up to 304° even under full hydraulic pressure.  More
